Who finds this type of wheel extremely ugly and cheap looking?
Seriously, I can’t find a single car that can pull it off. They all look like those $20 plastic wheel covers you can get at Walmart, just without the steelies underneath.

Ugly, yes. But they beat wheel covers any day.

The Challenger’s look okay, the Optima’s are pretty bad.

A five-spoke wheel? You don’t like 5-spokes? Depending on the particulars they can look bad when used on big sizes but I still think they look good.

Don’t get me wrong, I love 5-spokes, just not the really thick grey rental car ones.
This is A-OK in my book.

Thats because that is the RT. The old base wheels look like this:

Do you not like Pegs either?
![]() 08/18/2015 at 00:38 |

That looks alright, it’s mainly that those are flat and the others have some weird curving going on on the wheel that just looks, off.

Yeah, bland generic 5 spoke, in q bare aluminum looking silver paint. They’re just boring.
one thing I don’t like about the Optima Is the OEM wheel choices.
These are alright I guess

Okay I can see your point now...I just saw 5 spokes and got confused.
You are safe... For now

Actually it’s an SRT, but even the base wheels aren’t too bad. To me the issue with a lot of these is the small diameter.

I think some of them lack detail especially when they are used on the base wheel which gives them a dull, boring look. If done right even Steve McQueen couldn’t resist them.
![]() 08/18/2015 at 00:42 |

These are pretty good too, but yeah, the Optima is an excellent car, apart from the wheels.

“Actually it’s an SRT” - I should really look before I comment sometimes.
I’m with ForCanada mostly, blocky 5 spokes don’t look good. But my mind set is also small base wheels look bad on everything.

What’s your opinion on the oem acura tl 5 spoke?
![]() 08/18/2015 at 00:49 |

I think the best looking are 2 pronged 5 spokes.
![]() 08/18/2015 at 00:51 |

Haha, yeah spokes need some taper. (This is why I bought early WS6 wheels instead of the correct 2002 WS6 wheels)

Meh
![]() 08/18/2015 at 01:02 |

No. Those make them look like rental cars.

I think the 5 spoke has been played out so I can share the sentiment. That said I really enjoy the look of my Borbet type As.

I love me some Pegs. I think it’s cuz the others are too small, like I don’t like the Titans as much as the Pegs for this reason...

You thought those were bad...
We had one as a rental and besides those wheels it’s a great looking van...

Confession: I really like certain chunky 5-spoke painted alloy wheels, even if they’re a little nondescript. This Freelander is beautiful to me.

I kinda like the way they look on the Camaro.

I think the wheels are the best part on that car. And I don’t like the wheels that much.

IMO it looks great on the upper trim wheels and has a really nice interior...its a great cruiser since its quiet inside and the VQ and CVT produce a lot of pull and little noise, and what noise there is is generally good. If its small frontal overlap wasn’t so bad it would be worth considering. I personally think it’s the best looking van sold today at least...

I just don’t like the design. It’s too awkward and slab-sided. Of course, it’s all subjective, that’s just my opinion.

Ah, yeah...it is pretty much an acquired taste...I like the Elgrand so I guess it helps...

Ha. Same goes for a lot of cars.

I'm not sure I've ever noticed this before, but, is there supposed to be camber here?

look fine to me.

Strong disagree on this particular set, but I will say that five-spokes are pretty boring and ubiquitous.

Those wheels are adorably, unfortunately small.

Huh, never noticed that.

It seems familiar for some reason. Guess I'll just have to Google pictures of Challenger's when I get home from work to see if it's normal or not.

Came here to post this!
Love me some Pegs. Kind of sad that my 850R doesn’t have them, but I like its Tethys wheels (from an S60) enough that I can’t really be bothered swapping them out.

They look great to me.
What look cheap to me are when companies put plastic covers over metal wheels that are the same shape, but are either painted or chromed, instead of just having an alloy wheel. Sure, it’s cheaper (and sometimes lighter), but they look awkward, and anyone with a trained eye and experience can pick them out from a distance.

I loved the 5 spokes on my IS300. They were the best. I loved them and so should you.

Huh, had to google it. Seems weird they would change them for just one model year, but either way good choice.

That’s one way to put it...

If I can find some for the right price I’ll be getting some 18” ones for my C30!

Someone started producing them cheap and slapping them on every base/rental model, which made them look like the new steelie. It’s total poverty spec to get a steelie with a wheel cover anymore.
Many of these would look okay if it wasn't for that.
